BACKGROUND

The Avi Resort & Casino located in Laughlin, Nevada was built in 1995 and includes 455 rooms and 25,000 sq.ft. of casino space. Included in their recent expansion was a 2000 sq.ft. Employee Dining Room (E.D.R) of which 1000 sq.ft. of this area is designated for smoking.

Avi Resort management contacted Newmatic Engineering with two concerns:

1. The amount of smoke in the E.D.R. was excessive and the room was uncomfortable to be in for any length of time.
2. The “Soft Count Room”, the room where currency is counted and wrapped, had strong unpleasant odors.

SOLUTION

The Resort tried numerous methods that claimed to remove the odors and contaminates with no success. After installation of Genesis Air Filters including four (4) ceiling mounted fan powered units in the E.D.R., and one portable floor unit in the soft count room, they have noticed a considerable difference in both locations. The number of complaints has dropped significantly, and they have noticed a drop in employee illness. The Genesis Air Filters are checked every six weeks as part of their scheduled maintenance. Avi management continues to work with Newmatic Nevada to provide a clean, healthy, smoke-free environment for their employees and guests.
